PermalinkHaving always used gas appliances prior to moving to the village, I was surprised gas is not available. It would be costly to lay a supply line but it would increase the range of energy options locally. How this might be accomplished might be worth considering. It would be good to see it as an option in 15 years time, particularly if the community grows in size.

PermalinkNot sure if it is your 'area' of the plan but it seems to me that there is widespread concern in the village over the best approach to house insurance. When I came to renew my policy, I found that many insurance companies were loath to even give a quote because our property is close to water. The same must occur for much of the village. Not sure if there is a best way forward but it may help to consider the implications from a group perspective.

PermalinkHaving enjoyed living in AK for 13 years now, we finally did the deed and got a dog. Fantastic place for walkies as there are a number of options. My very favourite post school drop off walk does however have one snag. The B4696.
The Thames path requires you to cross over the busy road that runs around the edge of our lovely village. I understand that there have been accidents involving dogs there in the past but really don't want to think about anything more serious.
Not knowing where to start with this, I thought here may seed the beginnings of a project to have a foot bridge built for the safe passage of not only us regular dog walkers but to the may more Thames Path walkers who use this beautiful public facility. I really can't see traffic calming measures, zebra crossings or anything else working there due to the bend in the road. As you cross from the village side, you simply can't see or be seen, so a vehicle stopped to let you cross would in itself be a hazard if something was coming around the bend at high speed, which many lorries seem to do.
Every day I think about it, but today was the day I shared my thoughts. Thanks.Like 0
